In the spirit of national March Madness basketball fervor, the St. Louis Muslim community
experienced a taste of the hyped up championship mode as the All-Stars from Al-Mu’minun
Islamic Center faced off against the heralded team from Muhammad Mosque #28. All part of
the Annual Men’s Fellowship Basketball tournament held at The Crossroads College
Preparatory School on Saturday, July 10.

This was a rematch from last year’s exciting nail biter held at the Gateway Classic Complex
which saw the All-Stars come from behind in the last moments of the fourth quarter to defeat
a determined, hard playing Mosque #28 squad. This year’s face off saw a reversal of early
game fortunes in that after overcoming an early lead posted by the Mosque #28 team, the All-
Stars put up a double digit lead which they maintained through out most of the evening.
The final score was All-Stars 56 - Mosque #28  48

The All-Stars guided by Coach Stephen Abdul-Hamid and led by team MVP Aaron Mumin’s

hard driving antics, ran the offense at a dazzling pace while maintaining a persistent defensive

press which kept the Mosque #28 players in perpetual motion throughout the contest.
